You Make Your Own Luck.
So there I was, scrambling for a unique, charming Mother's Day gift for my loving wife. And there was Jill on the Today show with her "steals and deals." And low and behold, there was the Flatterbox. It was perfect for the person who (admittedly) had everything. A cute little transparent box, filled with thoughts, memories, wishes, whatever I wanted, all on little cards that I could either get blank and fill in myself, or send in and have each card professionally printed (I didn't have time for that this time around).
So I ordered.
And the kids and I filled out our 50 "I love you because..." cards and packed them up for Mom. She cried. She loved them. And when she's had a long, rough day, she turns to her nightstand and reads through them. It was a huge hit.
So, I reached out to the owner of the company on Twitter and via e-mail, to let her know how impressed I was with this innovative idea, and how much my wife loved it.
And we got to talking about the product
...and how the Today Show exposure had orders going through the roof
...and how I was an experienced marketing and advertising pro
...and how she needed one
...and BOOM. New client.
So once again, my crazy freelance lifestyle gave me the opportunity to work on a product that I personally use and am very passionate about. And as any creative will tell you, THAT's the dream. And I made it happen.
So check out http://www.flatterbox.com. And the next time you have a graduation/retirement party/milestone birthday/anniversary, you can literally give the gift that keeps on giving.
